Balance Ball Yoga - Journey to Discover Your Body Axis & Core

Balance Ball Yoga-Body Axis and Core Training

What is Body Axis and Core, and why is it important?

The body's core is where the body's energy originates from. The core is also the center of gravity for the entire body. The axis is related to the spine and the area of the body where movement begins.

Combining correct posture and coordination for dynamic physical performance is usually only possible for top athletes after years of heavy training, which leads to a familiarity with body core. However, our Balance Ball Yoga courses focus directly on helping you identify your own body's core, while practicing movement from your axis. Without heavy training or years of experience, you can focus directly on your Body Axis and Core to enhance your ability to perform more efficiently and effectively on a daily basis.

In order to have superior coordination and efficiency in movement, we must be aware of how our body's core and balance affect every single movement we make.

Body Axis and Core can be used to protect your body

The movement in the picture shows almost the same movement as "Ukemi" in Judo.

By using the spine as the shock absorber, the spine is twisted in the air to prevent spinal extension. Touching the hand to the ground prevents your head from hitting the ground, thereby bending and twising the spine to absorb the shock.

If you practice this movement, you can protect your body from severe problems in the case of accidents.

In Japan, the fundamental importance of correct posture has been a part of the culture for many centuries, and is something every child learns from a young age. This is because having good posture and the ability to coordinate movement from your body's centre results in improved physical performance and a dramatic increase in the body's abilities. Many martial arts, such as Judo, Kendo, Aikido, and Karate, have their origins in focusing on posture as a fundamental element.
