What is Balance Ball Yoga?Balance Ball Yoga is a new method to improve posture and movement. Balance Ball Yoga was created by the director of the Thai Healing Art School International (Chiang Mai, Thailand) as a teaching method for Thai Yoga Massage students. The idea was to focus students’ attention on the importance of good posture when giving massage. All the movements have been developed from natural movements in both humans and animals. Balance Ball Yoga combines Western and Eastern philosophies of healing. By practising Balance Ball Yoga, you will understand effective coordination and natural movement, whilst unlocking stores of previously untapped energy. You will have new realizations about your body’s potential as well as higher levels of personal confidence. Balance is stability produced by an even distribution of weight on each side of the vertical axis. Balance in the body is not static; it is achieved through constant motion. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word 'yuj', which means to control, yoke or unite. A yoke is used to join the forces of horses pulling a coach, just as muscle force is united and used equally in Balance Ball Yoga to stabilise the body. Another reason for using the word ‘yoga’ is that importance is placed on mental, emotional and physical conditions working in harmony. Controlling and balancing out the body opens the possibility of controlling and balancing out the mind, something that is particularly challenging in the modern world. Balance Ball Yoga is a new concept of yoga exercise for discovering new ways of improving posture, movement and confidence. Our work is based on our three basic concepts:
Our experience with Balance Ball Yoga has proved that enhanced physical strength blends with the spiritual experience of accessing one’s own reserve of previously unknown mind power. Strong and round is our supportive Earth. Fluid and impermanent life balances on its surface. Dynamic life emerges from the awareness of the instance when center and target become one. |
